Blog Action Day 2010

Blog Action Day is an annual event that unites the world's bloggers in posting about the same issue on a single day – October 15. Last year, more than 13,000 bloggers participated from 152 countries. The aim is to raise awareness and trigger a global discussion about an important issue that impacts people around the world. This year, the chosen issue is WATER, something that is especially easy for U2 fans to get involved in because of the organization The African Well Fund.

African Well Fund is a registered non-profit dedicated to raising funds for building and maintaining wells in Africa. It was formed in October 2002 by a group of U2 fans inspired by the media coverage of Bono’s May 2002 trip to Africa with then Secretary of U.S. Treasury, Paul O’Neill. Struck by the relatively low cost of building a well and the enormous difference that a well can make in the life of a village, they were convinced that raising the money to build a well was an easily achievable goal. Since then, they've raised over $729,000 and built wells for over 200 communities.

Please consider a donation to AWF, and also consider making your voice heard on this important issue.
