Get Up Off Your Knees: Preaching the U2 Catalog. It started back in 2004 with a book. We're still watching it happen.

U2 dedicated UTEOTW to Harold Camping last night. It's really rather poignant. Bono jokes that only Edge would be "taken up in the air," then gives a corrective ALREADY realized eschatology, and then delivers the loudest NOT YET balancing one I've ever heard. Thanks, U2, for reading the whole Bible with your whole brains and your whole bodies.
I can't really tell either, though the intensity is really something. Always possible that it may be Bongolese, some of it, but I think I hear "somewhere, it is" and something about "bring peace."
I thought I heard "Somewhere.. it is" as well. I wondered if that meant that somewhere in the world it was the end of the world for someone. Which of course it is.
There's a video on the atU2 site http://www.atu2.com/ of "Beautiful Day" with a fan brought up to read a poem at the beginning. On first viewing, it seems that the poem is also about hope. ..something about a garden, blessings etc. What is this poem?
Can't quite make out what Bono is shouting. A little help?
ReplyDeleteWhat is he shouting?

ReplyDeleteIt sounds like he shouts "Damascus" twice and then "peace".......police had killed demonstrators there this past week.
ReplyDeleteThat's a helpful comment Sue, thanks!
