Text and Context

An after-Christmas post headed Is iTunes Changing The Way We Read Scripture? reflects on the way listening to a song out of the context of its album (as iTunes makes easier than ever) can be as misleading as reading a verse of Scripture out of context. The two examples are "Bullet the Blue Sky" and Jeremiah 29:11. As one commenter says, iTunes is probably much more likely to be a symptom of the pick-and-choose mentality than a cause.
